Summary

The experiment on evaporation heat transfer characteristics of R410A and R22 inside horizontal tubes was individually conducted to investigate the influence of refrigerant flow velocity on heat transfer characteristics and pressure drop. The results show that the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of R410A or R22 increased with an increase in the mass flow rate. When the mass flow rate was less than 300 kg/s.m2, the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of R410A were in reasonable consistence with those of R22, however, the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of R410A increased slightly and those of R22 rose greatly when the mass flow rate was higher than 300 kg/s.m2. It is likely that R410A may replace R22 at low mass flow rates because the greater heat transfer coefficient and smaller pressure drop of R410A can be achieved.
