Summary

THE AUTHORS PRESENT AN EXPERIMENTAL AND ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE OPERATING CONDITIONS OF AN OFF-LOADED RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR FROM THE TEMPERATURE OF LUBRICATING OIL. FOR MASS PRODUCED COMPRESSORS THE TEST VALUES FOR FRICTION IN A RANGE OF OIL TEMPERATURES OF 293 TO 373 K (20 TO 100 DEG C) AT CRANK-SHAFT ROTATIONS UP TO 25/SEC WERE OBTAINED NE THE AUTHORS SHOW THAT THE OCCURRENCE OF A MINIMUM DETERMINES THE REVERSE VARIATION OF MECHANICAL FRICTION LOSSES. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE GIVEN FOR THE TEMPERATURE FOR THE ACCELERATED RUNNING-IN OF COMPRESSORS WITH RUNNING-IN CONTROL ACCORDING TO CAPACITY.
