Summary

The application of cold accumulators with accumulation of ice on the heat exchange surface during low cold consumption and its use during peak loads period is an effective method of electricity consumption saving. Within rather short periods of cold high consumption the energy accumulated by ice is used in the process of ice melting. Naturally not only the choice of ice accumulators performed on the base of balance calculations but the definition of the time of periods of ice accumulation and melting becomes significant. The article gives a simple differential equation to specify the time of ice formation on a vertical cooled tube. The equation is finalized with semi empiric corrective dependences obtained on the base of experimental data of ice accumulation. The experimental data are obtained using a specially developed plant. Such an approach allowed eliminating the influence of some parameters used in the differential equation that cannot be directly calculated. The results of calculations according to the introduced relation at fine precision correspond to the experimental data published in the literature.
