Summary
A two-cylinder reciprocating piston compressor with a swept volume of 0.15 liter (13.42 m3 /h at 50 Hz) was installed in a high-temperature heat pump. It was tested with >45 different refrigerants, including pure ones, binary and ternary blends. A total of 439 data points were collected, and all relevant measurements, as well as some analysis results, are published. Apart from the large number of different mixtures, the range of operating conditions in this dataset is particularly wide. For example, suction temperatures ranged from 3 to 111 ◦C, pressure ratios from 2.4 to 21.1, suction gas superheat levels from 5 to 68 K, and discharge temperatures reached 170 ◦C. A correlation based solely on suction pressure, discharge pressure and suction gas superheat reproduces the overall isentropic efficiency to within ±0.02 for 93 % of the data points. Correlations for the volumetric efficiency and the heat loss factor are provided as well.
