Summary

An anemometer, specifically intended for directional measurements of air velocity in the range 0.1-1 meter/second, to be used for evaluating the indoor air quality inside buildings, is presented. As a fast response of the instrument is not needed for the planned use, the sensing element is composed of a plexiglass plate on which four flat thermal resistances are glued (two for each side); one thermal resistance on each surface is electrically heated so that the temperature difference between the two thermal resistances on the same side is dependent on the air velocity and the incidence angle. Calibration curves are reported; the authors assert that this probe is cheap, durable and easy to use. E.F.
