Type of article: Article

Summary

THE EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE CONSISTS IN STUDYING, UNDER STEADY STATE CONDITIONS THE RANGE OF AIR FLOW RATES AND TEMPERATURES, INSIDE THE OCCUPIED AREA, AND TO MEASURE THE SURFACE TEMPERATURES OF WALLS. THE PROBLEM POSED BY THE MEASUREMENT OF LOW AIR FLOW RATES IN A ROOM IS PRESENTED, TOGETHER WITH THE TECHNICAL MEANS FOR SOLVING IT. THEN, THE PROCEDURE LEADING TO THE UCRES COMFORT PROFILE, WHICH CONSISTS IN PROCESSING PHYSICAL MEASUREMENTS, IS GIVEN. AN EXAMPLE OF ITS APPLICATION IS USED TO SHOW HOW THIS QUALITATIVE PROFILE MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE A QUANTIFIED INDICATION OF THE DIFFERENTSOURCES OF DISCOMFORT PREVAILING IN A ROOM.
