Summary

To investigate the heat and mass transfer performance of liquid desiccant dehumidification/regeneration in falling film plates, experiments in the dehumidifier and regenerator using LiCl solution as the liquid desiccant were performed. Effects of inlet air and solution parameters on the air outlet parameters were analyzed experimentally. The empirical correlations of the coupled heat and mass transfer coefficients were presented, and then the NTU-Le heat and mass transfer model was validated through the comparisons of calculation results with experimental data to verify the accuracy and the suitability of the model in the falling-film plate dehumidification/regeneration. The comparison of the heat and mass transfer performance between parallel flow and contra flow is related at the end of this article. The results showed that the error between the results of experiment and simulation was within 10%, and thus it proved that the NTU-Le model were suitable for the liquid desiccant dehumidification and regeneration in falling-film plates. In addition, the experimental results provided reliable data for the further analysis of heat and mass transfer performance between air and desiccant.
