Experimental investigation on the flow and heat transfer of a new 3-D helical needle-shaped fin and two plate fins.

Summary

Heat transfer enhancement techniques are widely applied in refrigeration systems. The design of special fins plays an important role in heat transfer enhancement. An investigation of characteristics of fluid flow and heat transfer is carried out for a new 3-D helical needle-shaped fin and two plate fins (perforated and serrated). The performance of the three fins are tested and their experimental curves of the friction factor and heat transfer factor are described.
