Summary

Performance improvement of fuel cell system requires optimal design of its all sub-system. Oxygen supply system influences fuel cell performance directly and air compressor is key component for this sub-system. A twin screw compressor with lower pressure ratio was investigated. Experimential research showed that flow rate can be adjusted by changing rotation speed and the maximum flow rate can be 294 m3/h was got. Increasing rotation speed also increases volumetric efficiency and maximum value is 85.2% during the test. There exist an optimal rotation speed for certain discharge pressure to get minimum specific power consumption and maximum isentropic efficiency. Isentropic efficiency reaches to 78.25% and minimum specific power consumption is 0.05 kW•h/m3 with discharge pressure of 0.23MPa.
