Experimental study of falling film absorption heat and mass transfer on horizontal enhanced heat transfer tube of double fluted type with LiBr solution.

Author(s) : TAKAHASHI H., KOYAMA S.

Summary

This paper presents the experimental results of falling film absorption heat and mass transfer on horizontal enhanced heat transfer tubes. The external surface of the enhanced tubes has longitudinal grooves and these were placed staggered arrangement. Tubes with longitudinal grooves of length 50 and 100 mm were tested. A smooth tube was also tested as the reference case. The solution in the present study used was lithium-bromide solution. In order to determine the heat and mass transfer coefficient the absorption test was carried out with absorption pressure of 0.8 kPa, the concentration at LiBr solution inlet of 63 wt.%, the inlet cooling water temperature of 32°C, and film Reynolds number was between 10 and 20. The outside heat transfer coefficient of the groove length 100 mm tube was approximately 1.2 times higher than that of the smooth tube at low film Reynolds number. In addition, the mass heat transfer of the groove length 100 mm tube increased with an increase of film Reynolds number.
