Summary

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PAPER WERE TO EXPERIMENTALLY STUDY HEAT TRANSFER IN LOUVER-ARRAY AND PROPOSE A PREFERABLE GEOMETRICAL ARRANGEMENT OF THE LOUVER IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE HEAT EXCHANGER. THE FIRST STEP IN THE STUDY WAS TO OPTICALLY VISUALIZE THE TEMPERATURE FIELD AROUND LOUVERS AND THE SECOND STEP WAS TO EXAMINE THE PLAUSIBLE ARRANGEMENT OF LOUVERS FOR ENHANCING HEAT TRANSFER. THE POSITION SHIFT OF DOWNSTREAM LOUVERS WAS PROPOSED IN ORDER TO OBSERVE ISOTHERMS AND MEASURE THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS IN STAGGERED LOUVER ARRAY. ITS EFFECTIVENESS WAS VERIFIED BY EXPERIMENT.
