Summary

THE LAPLACE TRANSFORMATION AND EIGENFUNCTION EXPANSION METHODS ARE USED IN THE ANALYSIS. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE CONDUCTIVITY RATIO PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE ON BOTH THE HEAT TRANSFER RATE AND THE TIME TO REACH THE STEADY STATE. HOWEVER, THE EFFECT OF DIFFUSIVITY RATIO IS FOUND TO BE INSIGNIFICANT ON THE TRANSIENT RESPONSE WHEN THE CONDUCTIVITIES ARE CONSTANT.
