Experimental study of thermostatic expansion valves in automobile air conditioners.

Etude expérimentale de détendeurs thermostatiques de climatiseurs automobiles.

Summary

The air-conditioners in automobile are usually subjected to strong fluctuations. An experimental study of the characteristics, in steady state, of two thermostatic expansion valves is presented in this paper. The authors highlighted the stability limits of these expansion valves. In addition, steps of compressor speed were carried out in order to characterise the temporal response of the superheat of these expansion valves. These tests allow selecting the best charge of the expansion valve bulb. Finally, tests with the cycles recommended by the "UTAC" were carried out.
