Experimental study on emissivity measurement of MLI reflector for the insulation enhancement of liquid hydrogen storage tank.

Number: 0062

Author(s) : HEO J. Y.

Summary

To secure competitiveness in liquid hydrogen storage technology, it is necessary to quantitatively analyze the emissivity of the MLI reflector, which significantly impacts thermal insulation. In this paper, an indirect measurement method using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) equipment was selected to measure the emissivity characteristics. The reflector materials measured in this study were aluminum PET films and foils, and copper foils were also included as candidates for low-emissivity materials. For aluminum foil materials, four types of samples were measured to confirm the relationship between surface roughness and composition. As a result, several conclusions were drawn, laying an important foundation for the design of liquid hydrogen storage.
