IIR document

Experimental validation of a numerical model of a vapour-compression refrigeration system.

Summary

The test bench employed is constituted of a reciprocating compressor, two parallel expansion devices (one manual and one thermostatic), and an evaporator and a condenser, being the heat exchangers counter-flow multitubes. The refrigeration fluid employed was R134a and the secondary fluids were water (condenser) and a mixture of water and ethylene glycol (evaporator). A data acquisition system recorded all data. The numerical model results related to the temperature values, represented an absolute deviation smaller than 1.5 °C and those error-related to the mass flow rate, smaller than 4%.
