Summary

On the updated test bench based on the ducted enthalpy test method, the thermal performance experiment for the prototype was performed. The experiment is carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the optimal air velocity and water-to-air ratio was tested using the influence of different air velocities and water-to-air ratios on the resistance and efficiency with the spray water temperature setting as wet-bulb temperature of inlet air. In the second stage the influence of spray water temperature on the water evaporator efficiency was tested. Data processing and analyses show that the optimal air velocity is 1.0 m/s, and the optimal water-to-air ratio is 0.1, and that the evaporative cooling efficiency and sensible cooling capacity decrease when spraying water temperature rises. According to the regulation of actual refrigeration capacity of cooling machines over 95% of the rating value, it is suggested that the spray water temperature remains in the 20.13-25.86°C range.
