Summary

The authors investigated about reinnervation and preservation of extrinsic sympathetic nerves in small bowel grafts after cold storage (4 deg C, 90 minutes) and transplantation procedure. Reinnervation of sympathetic nerves began 3 weeks after transplantation and about 70 to 80% of control nerve fibers were recognized in the mesenteric arteries 52 weeks after transplantation.
