Summary

In order to improve the success rate of small intestinal transplantation and to procure organs from wider areas, the establishment of a simplified method of cold preservation as well as the determination of the graft viability parameters should be considered. Rat small intestine could be preserved up to 24 hours in cold Universisty of Wisconsin solution. The physiological examinations of the neurons of the smooth muscles, of the tissue blood flow and of the cytological exudate on reperfusion were considered as reliable parameters for graft viability.
