FAN ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION FOR VARIABLE AIR VOLUME.
Author(s) : SPITLER J. D.
Summary
HVAC DESIGNERS CHOOSING VARIABLE AIR VOLUME SYSTEMS HAVE SEVERAL OPTIONS FOR MODULATING THE FLOW. SOME OF THE MORE POPULAR METHODS FOR CENTRIFUGAL FANS ARE DISCHARGE DAMPERS, INLET VANES, AND MOTOR SPEED CONTROL. THE PAPER DESCRIBES A STUDY IN WHICH THESE DIFFERENT METHODS OF FAN MODULATION ARE COMPARED FOR TWO PROTOTYPICAL BUILDINGS IN FIVE LOCATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES.
