Fault detection and diagnosis in refrigeration systems: a summary of the latest results.

Summary

Fault tolerance has become an increasingly interesting topic in the last decade during which automation has become more complex. The need for more autonomy in control systems also drives interest toward fault tolerance. In mass produced industrial systems, the unit cost is a paramount issue. Hence, cheap fault tolerant control using analytical redundancy is important industrial research area. The paper describes the problem of deriving analytical redundancy in refrigeration systems and gives examples that describe how redundancy is utilized to produce fault indicators. An overview of the latest achievements within fault diagnosis in commercial refrigeration systems is presented.
