Summary

An experimental investigation was conducted to observe and analyze the flow boiling of a subcooled liquid flowing through a horizontal flat duct at high velocities. The region over which transition boiling occurred decreased in size as the liquid velocity and the amount of liquid subcooling increased. Two fairly distinct regions were apparent within the film boiling regime, an auto model and non-auto model region. The previously developed theoretical analysis was modified and expanded to encompass the auto model film boiling region.
