Summary

The characteristics of oval and round tubes have been compared in numerous scientific studies (such as Hasan's, for example). The fact that oval tubes have a better pressure loss versus heat transfer ratio than round tubes is unquestioned. This is why the use of fin heat exchangers is often recommended. But oval tubes have major drawbacks that challenge their use in refrigeration and air conditioning.
