THE AUTHOR CONTENDS THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO REDUCE THE REQUIRED HEAT TRANSFER SURFACE AREA BY INCREASING THE REFRIGERANT PRESSURE DROP THROUGH AN AIR-COOLED CONDENSER. THIS IS DEMONSTRATED BY A THEORETICAL EXAMPLE IN WHICH A CONSIDERABLE INCREASE IN HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT WITH INCREASED REFRIGERANT VELOCITY IS ASSUMED. D.W.H.
