Fouling of heat exchangers and its mitigation with special reference to biofouling.

Author(s) : BOTT T. R.

Summary

The fouling of heat echangers is a wide spread problem in many industries resulting in substantial costs. A number of factors principally, flow velocity, temperature and foulant concentration, interact in the fouling process. The influence of these factors and others associated with biology, are discussed with special reference to biofouling. Mitigation technologies are described. The review is extended to other fouling mechanisms and their control.
