Dealing with fouling problems in industrial heat transfer.

Author(s) : KRUEGER S., SCHOLL S.

Summary

Fouling is the result of complex interactions of process, product, apparatus, and operational parameters. Various aspects of fouling as an operational problem are presented. Special attention is paid to the determination of fouling resistances from operating data. Three examples with different reasons for fouling problems together with the adequate solving approaches are discussed. Finally an outlook for future aspects of theoretical modelling as well as its incorporation into simulation for heat exchangers is given.
