Summary

States that the Bavarian Technical Inspection Office has been working in association with a firm of design engineers to assess ventilation installations and to determine volume air flows in housing. Part of the research involved carrying out surveys on housing estates to ascertain acceptance of fresh air equipment both with and without fans, installed in the flats. For several years fresh air fittings have been installed in new and in older buildings in conjunction with soundproof windows with calculated air infiltration pathways incorporated in them. These installations have not always been accepted by the occupants. Analyses the weak points of the fittings and windows from the surveys and presents recommendations for the design, installation and location of new fittings.
