Summary

During spring, all cultivars were most sensitive at post bloom stage. The application of -3 deg C for 1, 2 and 3 hours at all stages, and the application of -5 deg C for 1 or 2 hours at bud burst stage were not harmful to any flowers of tested cultivars. On the other hand, -6 deg C for 2 hours and -8 deg C for 1 and 2 hours at the bud burst stage, caused up to 90% flower injury in all cultivars. The alive flower bud percentage of the cultivars at -5 deg C, applications varied from 0 to 98.9% according to the application year and stages. In general -5 deg C for 2 hours caused a total flower injury in all stages for all the cultivars.
