Summary
Using Shanghai as an example, the authors analyse the impact of residential air conditioning on energy resources and the environment. They recommend the use of district heating and cooling, and refrigeration of heating, cooling and power. For middle-sized or small cities or suburban areas, they consider household air conditioning systems optimal.
