Summary

The paper presents the benefits, in terms of primary energy, of the use of hydrocarbons (in this case a mixture of propane and butane) in gas engines, to drive refrigeration compressors (in this case a centrifugal one), with heat recovery. Schemes for heating and cooling modes are presented. Control devices, cycle reversion, noise problems and defrosting problems are investigated.
