Summary

An overview of cryopreservation and banking of animal and plant germ plasm for biodiversity conservation in Russia is presented. The idea of using cryopreservation techniques and developmental biology methods for saving endangered animals, plants, fungi, and microorganisms is developed by Russian scientists in different institutions of the country. A partial list of Russian institutions involved in the cryopreservation of genetic material is included.
