Getting it right in practice: energy management case studies.

Author(s) : BERGLÖF K.

Summary

Energy optimisation and reliability of refrigeration systems are finally coming into focus. Refrigeration processes use 15-20% of the electricity produced so their energy efficiency deserves interest. EU has introduced requirements for "performance inspections" on all air-conditioning systems with a capacity above 12 kW. This paper presents experiences from systematic performance inspections based on the "internal method", an innovative method for documenting analyses of the refrigeration process. Experiences from some case studies are reported as well as key findings in a survey of 164 inspections that showed on average 10% energy saving by adjustments or other low-cost measures.
