Recommendations for reduction of energy consumption in refrigeration systems.

Author(s) : RIVET P.

Summary

The author presents the measures to be taken in order to reduce the energy consumption of a refrigerating plant. The main points that are raised are: selecting the most suitable refrigerant depending on the application, selecting the most efficient compressor, reducing temperature differences of condensers and evaporators, selecting reliable and efficient expansion systems, preventing liquid accumulation (condensers, suction lines), reducing pressure drops in suction pipes. Other approaches are also mentioned (subcooling, use of slurries, design of heat pipe distribution networks, etc.).
