Global trends in the development of compressors for air-conditioning systems.

Summary

Global leaders in the development of air-conditioning systems have based the development of their future products on refrigerants R134a and R410A, while accordingly also the development of compressors for air-conditioning systems will proceed. For the medium- and high-capacity class, new single- and two-stage turbocompressors with controlled rotational speed have been designed by TURBOCOR Company. Their revolutionary concept is in their oil-less construction, having maximum speed about 48 000 r.p.m. at a low noise level. From their high rotational speed results a very low weight. Also their starting currents are low, even lower than that of household refrigerator reciprocating compressors. They have become serious perspective competitors for all types of medium- and high-performance compressors. A batch production of such compressors has already been launched.
