Summary
This is a review paper dealing with gravity ventilation systems for apartment buildings. Indoor air quality problems including so-called sick building syndrome have been presented in this paper. Contemporary law requirements concerning ventilation systems of apartment buildings including appropriate size and operation of ventilation ducts of gravity systems have been discussed. Design and operation of gravity ventilation systems in apartment buildings as well as efficiency of its operation in terms of micro-climate of ventilated rooms have been presented. A close attention has been paid to benefits and losses due to application of such type of ventilation system. Assessment of the efficiency of gravity ventilation systems on the basis of the exemplary of detached apartment building have been presented.
