Summary

The authors carried out three investigations at a corporate apartment complex: a questionnaire on the degree of satisfaction concerning general dwelling environment, a measurement of indoor climate, and a survey on the use of air conditioning. It was found that staircase-type apartments are more comfortable than two side-corridor types because they have the greatest indoor air flow velocity. The restriction of natural cross ventilation at night due to privacy and security considerations made the dwelling environment extremely uncomfortable.
