Summary
Nationally recognised training and qualification policy in the UK is subject to regular changes and updates. These are necessary to take into account changes in technology, new legislation and a rolling programme of revision of employer requirements on which qualifications are based. A Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump (RACHP) Engineering Technician Apprenticeship is now the recognised standard that technicians entering the workplace should attain. The Apprenticeship is based on a standard for Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours developed by employers. However, this Apprenticeship only became available in 2018 and is designed as a three year course.
