HEAT ANALYSIS AND REDUCTION OF EVAPORATION RATE OF LIQUID HELIUM DEWAR.

Author(s) : KURAOKA Y.

Summary

ACCORDING TO A PREVIOUS PAPER (SEE Bull. IIR, ABSTR. 80-0004), THE LARGEST HEAT LOSS FOR A WIDE APERTURE LIQUID HELIUM DEWAR IS THE RADIANT HEAT INPUT FROM THE TOP SURFACE AND IT CAN BE REDUCED BY PAINTING AQUADAG ON THE INNER WALL OF THE DEWAR. IN THIS PAPER, SEVERAL KINDS OF SURFACES ARE INVESTIGATED INSTEAD OF AQUADAG PAINTED SURFACE AS DURABLE TREATMENT, FOR EXAMPLE, SULFURIZED, OXIDIZED OR SANDBLASTED SURFACE. ESPECIALLY, IN THE CASE OF SANDBLASTED SURFACE, THE STATE OF ITS ROUGH SURFACE WAS APPROXIMATED BY SINE-WAVE AND A COMPUTER SIMULATION WAS APPLIED TO THE THERMAL ANALYSIS.
