Plastic cryostats for liquid nitrogen and helium.

Author(s) : SPÖRL G., BINNEBERG A.

Summary

In the past three years, a lot of cryostats for use of liquid nitrogen and helium for different applications were developed according to customer requirements. The cryostats are made of fibre-reinforced epoxy resin materials. The cooling subjects mainly were superconducting electronic devices. They can be placed within the cryogenic bath or mounted on a cold surface in the vacuum jacket of the cryostat. Electrical feedthroughs are integrated for low and high frequency measurements. The cryostats can be used without continuous pumping. Depending on the cooling rates pumping has to be repeated within a few months.
