Heat exchanger with micro-channel for absorption chillers, with ammonia-water solution, for small cooling power.

Number: pap. n. TP-023

Author(s) : CHIRIAC F., SERBAN A., NASTASE G.

Summary

The paper presents an absorption chiller with ammonia-water solution, cooling power 5-20 kW, with the absorber, condenser, generator and evaporator with micro-channel. The chiller may be driven by renewable energy sources. The absorber and condenser are air cooled. The absorber has an original design, with the absorption of ammonia vapor in the ammonia-water liquid, flowing in the micro- channel. The outside surface is fin covered. In the paper are given the system schematic, the thermodynamic cycle calculation, the thermal design of the heat and mass transfer exchangers, the construction of the equipment. The final part contains the experimental results, and the thermodynamics coefficients of performance.
