THE ARTICLE DEALS WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEAT RECOVERY WHEELS AND HEAT PIPES. THEIR HISTORY IS OUTLINED AND FUTURE DESIGN PREDICTED. WHEELS FOR LATENT HEAT TRANSFER HAVE PROGRESSED FROM AN ASBESTOS MATRIX CHARGED WITH LITHIUM CHLORIDE TO A MOLECULAR SIEVE DESICCANT ON A METAL MATRIX. FUTURE HEAT PIPES MAY BE PRODUCED IN PLASTIC.
