DESCRIBES THE HEATING OF A DEVELOPMENT OF 5 BLOCKS COMPRISING 104 APARTMENTS, FROM TWO HEATING CENTRES, EACH CONTAINING TWO AIR-WATER ELECTRIC HEAT PUMPS IN SEPARATE BUILDINGS, IN BIVALENT OPERATION WITH TWO OIL-FIRED BOILERS. TWO SEPARATE HOT WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS SERVE THE 312-323 K (70-50 DEG C) SUPPLY/RETURN RADIATOR HEATING SYSTEM. THE HEAT PUMPS EACH HAVE A HEAT OUTPUT OF 57 KILOW AT AN AIR TEMPERATURE OF 275 K (2 DEG C) AND A HOT WATER SUPPLY TEA) TREATS THE ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS LEADING TO THE SELECTION OF THIS SCHEME, THE LAYOUT AND CONTROLS AND EXPERIENCE OF OPERATION.
