UNDERGROUND RAILWAYS ARE EXCELLENT HEAT SOURCES FOR HEAT PUMPS. IN THE STOCKHOLM UNDERGROUND SYSTEM A TOTAL OF 55,000 MWH IS DISSIPATED PER YEAR. THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES A PILOT HEAT PUMP INSTALLED IN THE UNDERGROUND STATION OF HOTORGET IN CENTRAL STOCKHOLM. IT IS A 240 KILOW HEAT PUMP AND HAS SO FAR PROVED VERY PROFITABLE AND EASY TO MAINTAIN.
