Summary
Twelve consortia consisting of 50 companies produced a total of 26 different installation concepts. In the majority of heat pump systems the ground was used as a heat source. None of the nominees succeeded in reducing the initial costs to a level where the incremental costs could be compensated by higher energy cost savings. But the Dutch heat pump competition made both suppliers and purchasers aware that the necessary equipment improvements and price levels are within reach.
