Summary

THE STEADY STATE AND CYCLIC PERFORMANCE OF A SINGLE PACKAGE AIR TO AIR HEAT PUMP HEATING A LIGHT-WEIGHT RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE IS SUMMARIZED. THE OVERALL MODEL IS VALIDATED BY COMPARING IT TO EXTENSIVE DATA DURING LIMITED TEST PERIODS, AND THEN GENERALIZED TO CONSIDER THE DIFFERENT EFFECTS. THE OVERALL SYSTEM SEASONAL PERFORMANCE FACTOR, STRONGLY DEPENDENT ON THE DUCT WORK, IS PARTLY DUE TO THE SPECIFIC DESIGN OF THE TEST HOME. THE HEAT PUMP SEASONAL COP WAS FOUND TO BE 1.6.
