Summary

A heat pump needs a clean heat source with a possible high temperature. Heat pumps cover 50% of maximum demand; the rest is covered by a heater or a boiler. Heat pumps work most economically in combination with a refrigerating plant. They then use the heat of the water flowing from condenser, oil cooler and pressure pipes. Profitability of heat pumps depends upon many factors. The article contains a diagram for estimation of the time of amortization of capital expenditure in terms of heat energy costs, electric energy costs, efficiency of both systems and operational time.
