MOST HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEMS INVOLVE HEAT TRANSFER SURFACES. THIS FACT MEANS HIGH INITIAL INVESTMENT, HIGH MAINTENANCE COSTS AND EFFICIENCY DECREASE BECAUSE OF THE FOULING OF THE HEAT TRANSFER SURFACES. THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE WORKING PRINCIPLES OF A SURFACE-LESS HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM, THE MATHEMATICAL APPROACH TO TREAT SUCH SYSTEMS AND WHAT PARAMETERS CAN BE USED TO EVALUATE AND COMPARE THIS SYSTEM WITH OTHERS.
