Type of article: Article

Summary

THE HEAT EXCHANGER IS THE ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT FOR CAPTURING ENERGY FROM WASTE HEAT. DUE TO THE SMALL TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE, THE HEAT TRANSFER SURFACE AREA IS VERY SIGNIFICANT, SO THAT THE COST OF THIS EQUIPMENT IS ALMOST EQUAL TO ONE THIRD OF THE OVERALL INVESTMENT COST OF THE PLANT. THE CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING THE CHARACTERISTICS OF HEAT EXCHANGERS RECOVERING HEAT ARE DISCUSSED AND NEW CRITERIA ARE SUGGESTED. METHODS ARE PRESENTED FOR INCREASING HEAT TRANSFER.
