Heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of perforated-plate heat exchangers.

Author(s) : SEYFERT P., ROUSSEL P., GUO T. W., et al.

Summary

As part of the development of a perforated-plate heat exchanger for a special need of the CERN-LHC cryogenic system, the authors have investigated heat transfer and pressure drop in slotted-plate stacks. The paper presents relevant experimental results on convective heat transfer which have been obtained by means of the naphthalene sublimation method. Experimental data on pressure drop are also given. The suitability of different slot arrangements for use in heat exchangers is briefly discussed.
