Heat transfer in external stone walls: the effect of stone surface texture.

Summary

The effect of surface texture on the heat transfer coefficient in stone walls is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Four local common types of stone walls are considered: saw-cut, hammered, punched and rough surface walls. Theoretical investigation is carried out to find a mathematical model that predicts the heat transfer in these walls, taking into account surface roughness. The model envisaged is a plane wall with fins representing the roughness of the stone surface. Three types of fins are considered: rectangular, trapezoïdal and pin-shaped.
