Summary

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE HEAT TRANSFER OF AN INCLINED TWO-PHASE CLOSED THERMOSYPHON IS DESCRIBED. WATER AND ETHANOL HAVE BEEN USED AS THE WORKING FLUIDS. THE AMOUNT OF WORKING FLUID AND THE INCLINATION ANGLE HAVE BEEN USED AS THE EXPERIMENTAL PARAMETERS. A VISUALIZATION OF THE MOVEMENT OF LIQUID WITH BOILING, THE SCATTERING OF LIQUID DROPS AND THE CONDENSATION OF VAPOUR HAS MADE CLEAR THE HEAT TRANSFER MECHANISM IN THE THERMOSYPHON. IN ADDITION, THE OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS AND THE THERMAL DIODE CHARACTERISTICS HAVE BEEN OBTAINED.
